I thought of this devotion, realizing that I have been pouring myself into lots of other cups, but not taking the time to allow God to fill and REFILL me! So, fill me up, Lord! I pray you, too will be blessed today…. It has been a crazy week and I am “empty”. I hope you don’t mind that I am reposting an “old” devotion this morning. John 10:10 (Amplified Bible Classic Edition, AMPC) emphasis mine.By Guest Blogger SeptemDevotion, Inspirational I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance ( to the full, till it overflows). The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. What is the reward he gives? Himself! The greatest reward of all is God Himself, because He is and He has all we will ever need. Hebrews 11:6 (Amplified Bible Classic edition, AMPC) For whoever would come near to God must believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him. Matthew 7:7-8 (New Living Translation, NLT)īut without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. How much do you want to be soaked and saturated with God? That, my friend, is where God leaves it up to you. He longs to be good to us and have us enter into deep and overflowing fellowship with Him. It’s a marvelous cycle, and we can experience God’s glory and outpouring over and over. The more we give out, the more God can give back to us, drenching our lives with His goodness. This is why people were healed just by Peter’s shadow passing over them (Acts 5:15) he had spent time in God’s presence. When they experience God like that, it opens the door for us to share with them the gospel. When this happens, we can pass on to them the manifest presence of the Lord, which brings blessing, healing, deliverance, and more. As we seek God and spend time waiting in His presence, soaking and becoming saturated with Him, then others will see God in us. To be honest, we can have as much of God as we want- it is dependent on our desire and effort. Malachi speaks of this kind of overflow.īring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. This is when we discover God as El Shaddai, the Hebrew name for Him that means that He is more than enough for all we need- more than enough to meet every need. Psalms 23:5 calls this anointing our heads with oil so our cups run over- we are so full of Him that we can contain no more. What happens next? Overflow! The anointing and power of God and His love that we have received spills over onto others, touching them with the same anointing that God touched us with. The goal is to stay until we’re running over with the anointing of God- until we are full and can receive no more. When we are in God’s presence, we stay there and soak for a while, waiting before Him to receive more of Him. How do we get saturated with God? By spending time with Him, taking time to bask and soak in His presence through worship, prayer, the Word, and fasting. The word saturate means to permeate until no more can be received, to soak thoroughly. God’s joy and His other qualities overflow when we become saturated in Him. Psalm 16:11 says, “In Thy presence is fullness of joy.” God’s presence brings joy that is full, even overflowing.
